A good poker player or gambling enthusiast in general, will know all of the ins and outs of the game. They will know poker history, popular poker players, online poker rooms, different hands, strategies and more. A good poker player will study the game of poker like a craft and cultivate it accordingly. The good poker players are the people who have a genuine love of the game and have an acute desire to continue to learn developing trends in poker and in gambling as a whole.

A good poker player earns the respect of other poker players not only by winning but also how he or she behaves at the poker table.

It has always worked better for me to play on the more impopular sites actually Smiley
I agree with previous speaker, a good pokerplayer earns his/hers opponents respect by winning and his/hers behaviour

A good poker player? Many things have been said, but discovering new moves is also important, and you never see anybody talking about that. Following everybody else's betting patterns for example just shows you have no heart!  Wink

With a chip and a chair, and an iconic stare, Phil Ivey clearly emerged in 2005 as the greatest player of his generation -- or perhaps of any generation. Tell him that and he’d probably just shrug and look at his shoes. Phil has no time for fame or ego -- just a whole lot of time to gamble. Phil was surprised to learn that he was No. 1; as a big cash-game player, he didn’t feel he’d entered enough tournaments to have a shot. In 2006, with a newfound commitment to tournament play, he could prove to be unstoppable. Bluff hails its first-ever Player of the Year (2005) and poker’s most reluctant celebrity.
